This Year’s Tournament 

The Players Championship was first played in 1974, and since has become one of the PGA Tour’s most sought after titles. The tournament is played at the TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, however, Florida’s unpredictable weather has caused some issues for this year’s Players Championship. The first round of the tournament was delayed, started, then delayed again after rain saturated the TPC Sawgrass. Today, heavy rains caused the TPC Sawgrass to be deemed “unplayable”. Players and tournament officials are still hopeful the Players Championship will come to a close on Sunday, March 13th,  as originally scheduled. 

Despite rain delays, you can still make the most out of the Players Championship! Tickets for the event are still on sale here, if you’re looking to attend in-person. You can also watch the tournament from home on TV or live stream. Here’s a few fun ways to celebrate the tournament: 

Attend the Players Championship

If you’re planning to attend the Players Championship in person, make sure you plan ahead for parking. The Players will run a few free shuttle services to make it easier for guests to attend. The tournament offers many food and drink options for guests to choose from, like the Hoptinger  Bier Garden and V Pizza. Even a few local restaurants like Taste of Jax will sell food at the event. If you’re attending as a family, be sure to check out the autograph zones and the Kids Zone for opportunities to meet the players and enjoy fun activities for kids of all ages. 

Host a Golf-Themed Party at Home 

One way to enjoy the Players Championship is to host a get-together at home and stream the tournament. Invite friends and family over to enjoy golf-themed snacks like golf ball cake pops. You can also make golf-inspired drinks like an Arnold Palmer. If you and your guests are big fans of golf, decorations like faux grass table runners are another great way to keep things on-theme.
