Apples Away

Warning: this game might be a bit more challenging than you think.

Grab a bushel of your favorite apples (enough so each player has five). On a flat surface, stack your apples, one on top of the other. The person to stack all five of their apples first is the winner! The apples must stand without failing for at least three seconds by themselves to count. Sounds simple…but is it?! You be the judge after you’ve attempted this fruity fall challenge.

Witch Hat Ring Toss

Let’s put a SPOOKY spin on a classic backyard game.

Stuff three or more witch hats with newspaper, so they stand on their own. Place them on the ground at least three feet away, or further if you’re looking for more of a challenge.

Then, using glow-in-the-dark sticks for rings, toss them and see how many you can wrap around the witch hats. You’ll be surprised how much fun this game is for all ages—not just little ones!

Pumpkin Bowling

This game always gets the giggles going.

Begin by stacking a bunch of toilet paper ghosts like a pyramid—three at the bottom, two in the middle, and one on top. Find a round pumpkin that fits nicely in your hand and remove the stem. Have the players roll the pumpkin on its side to knock over the ghosts. Extra points for a strike if you knock over all the ghosts at once!

Pumpking Drop Game

Our next game requires creativity and teamwork! For those that don’t want to participate, this is an extra fun competition to cheer on from the sidelines.

Pumpkin Drop is simple to assemble, but tricky to master. You will need paper towel rolls, green paper and a few orange balls. First, cut “stems” out of the green paper and stick them together on the orange balls. Then, take a black marker and draw a scary or silly jack o’ lantern face on the ball. Finally, place the finished “pumpkins” on top of the paper towel rolls.

After setting a starting and ending point, see which players can carry their “pumpkins” the fastest to the finish line! If the pumpkin drops, you have to go back to the start.
