The COVID-19 pandemic has created a new normal - but that doesn’t have to mean no fun! With Halloween approaching, we’re eager to celebrate the spooky season while adhering to CDC guidelines. Luckily, Jacksonville’s local businesses and neighborhoods have gotten creative, offering plenty of events that are sure to make the holiday one to remember. The pandemic has created the perfect opportunity for drive-in theaters to make a comeback, and we have to admit - we love the nostalgic experience. This October, 5 Points’ Sun-Ray Cinema is offering a Halloween-themed drive-in movie night for guests to enjoy. For Halloween, they’re featuring two classics: Monster Squad (1987) and Halloween (1978). They also offer delicious food options including pizza and nachos for you to enjoy from the comfort of your car as you watch the film.

2. Prepared to be Scared at Haunt Nights in Adventure Landing

Missing the thrill of a haunted house? Jacksonville Beach’s Adventure Landing has got you covered, with their terrifying-yet-amazing Haunt Night. They have adapted to the pandemic by creating virtual lines to promote social distancing, requiring masks for all staff and guests, and keeping the place sanitized around the clock. Beware, this attraction is not intended for young children or for the weak of heart.

3. Take Part in a Delicious Scavenger Hunt

Although some parents are opting to skip trick-or-treating this Halloween, there’s no reason to skip the sweets! Instead, host a scavenger hunt for candy around your house. Kids will love hunting down the hidden treats, and parents can feel confident that their family is safe.

4. Enjoy Family-Friendly Fun at Murray Hill-O-Ween

This year, Murray Hill is hosting the annual Murray Hill-O-Ween in a different way: with a yard decorating contest! You can remain socially distant while walking around with your family and voting for your favorite house decor. With a variety of categories inlcuding “Scariest” and “Funniest,” it is a great time for the whole family to enjoy.

5. Host a Virtual Halloween Party

We all love a Halloween party, but the pandemic means you may have to get creative when it comes to safely throwing a spooky bash. Luckily, modern technology means we can host virtual parties. From costume contests and pumpkin carving to game nights and scary storytime, all your favorite activities can be hosted online. It’s a great way to come together - even if you’re apart.
