Timoti's in the News

Extra, Extra! Timoti’s Reviews Make Headlines

It’s no surprise that we think Timoti’s Seafood Shak is some of the best seafood around. With our emphasis on quality ingredients and only using wild caught seafood, we’re confident that when you order a Fried Shrimp Basket, a Lobster Roll or any other T’s Classics you’re getting the best meal possible.

But, don’t just take our word for it—from local food blogs to international newspapers, Timoti’s Seafood Shak has been racking up rave reviews! Check out a few of our favorite highlights below.

Travelling Foodie

We are thrilled to have made Raymond Cua’s “10 Best Restaurants in Jacksonville” list for Travelling Foodie. Cua writes:

“Timoti’s serves fresh wild-caught local seafood with a combination of traditional and Southern style cooking. The shrimp basket came with nicely battered shrimps which were plump, meaty and sweet.”

While we can’t give away our full secrets, we appreciate Cua’s highlight of our in-house batter and frying technique!

“I really loved the batter at Timoti’s because it was hard enough that it’s intact and not falling off the shrimp, but not hard enough that it’s just perfectly crispy.”

Food & Wine

The tastemakers at Food & Wine gave Timoti’s Seafood Shak a shoutout alongside some of our favorite neighbors like Joe’s 2nd Street Bistro and David’s Restaurant and Lounge.

“From fresh, local seafood to seasonal farm-to-table fare, this barrier island is teeming with unrivaled versions of your favorite cuisines. Breathtaking Amelia Island, Florida’s northernmost coastal barrier island, is a foodie’s delight.”

They were also kind enough to underscore our commitment to high-quality ingredients from local sources.

“Supporting local fishermen, farmers, and brewers, Timoti’s Seafood Shak — a down-home favorite — serves up coastal delights like fish tacos, New England-style lobster rolls, and fried clam strips.”

Le Devoir

We’re going to take a quick trip north of the border, Canada not Georgia, for our next review from Catherine Lefrebvre of the French Canadian newspaper, Le Devoir.

“The feast begins at Timoti’s Seafood Shak, a counter whose menu features local seafood freshly caught from the surrounding waters. We let ourselves be tempted by the basket of fries and blackened shrimp, the mahi-mahi tacos blackened and the crunchy croquette crab burger. It tastes like the holidays!”

We might have to start referring to our Crab Burger as a croquette on the menu!

Main Line Times & Suburban

Back in the ol’ U.S. of A. we’re still impressing out-of-towners like Stephen Fries from the Main Line Times.

“The innkeepers as well as locals I met said I must eat at Timoti’s Seafood Shak. Nothing fancy, place your order at the window counter and dine outside in a relaxed atmosphere. The fish is delivered daily from local fishermen. The seafood stew, chock full of fish in a tomato base, is superb.”

Stephen made sure to save room for dessert and we recommend you do, too.

“The Key Lime Icebox Cup is amazing, made with whipped cream, cream cheese, lime juice and zest, orange zest, ginger snaps, pretzels and rolled oats.”

St. John’s Magazine

Local foodie Lori Allen even dedicated an entire column to Timoti’s Seafood Shak in St. Johns Magazine.

“I gave the New England-style Clam Chowder a try which I found to be nice and rich and creamy. I had to give the Lobster Rolls a try, being from New England, after all. These were what us New Englanders refer to as finger rolls, soft buttered and grilled then filled with a rich lobster salad.”

Lori recommends sharing the Lobster Rolls and splitting a couple sides for the table.

“I loved the Coleslaw because it reminded me of home because it had some kind of seeds in there. Maybe celery, maybe poppy, not sure, but it tasted really fresh and good!”

Last but not least is an incredible video review from 2 Gastronauts. We’ll let them take it away!
