An Amelia Island Summer: 4 Kid-Friendly Ways to Enjoy the Warm Weather
Can’t-Miss Camps and Activities for Kids This Summer
Summer is quickly approaching, and with it comes summer vacation. With plenty of ways to spend time in the warm weather, Amelia Island is a kid-friendly haven. From camps that let kids discover all of the amazing nature and wildlife that our home has to offer to mini-golf courses that offer fun for the whole family, every kid is sure to find an activity (or two!) to fill their summer days in Fernandina Beach.
Make a Splash at Amelia Surf Co. Summer Surf Camp
Surfs up! If your kid longs to ride a wave, then Amelia Surf Co.’s Summer Surf Camp will be the perfect fit. Available for both beginner and intermediate surfers ages 7-17, this camp offers weeklong sessions that can fit any summer schedule. Kids will enjoy the sand and surf from 9 am to 1 pm for five days, learning all about barrels, boards, and hanging ten.
Plus, despite its name, Summer Surf Camp isn’t just about surfing – it also will introduce kids to stand-up paddleboarding, yoga, and marine biology and teach them about the importance of keeping our beaches clean. Kowabunga!
Get Strumming at Guitar Camp
Calling all future Hendrixes, Claptons, and Van Halens! Future guitar geniuses can get their start at the Nassau County School Board’s Guitar Summer Camp. For the fourth year, this camp will be offered for beginners ages 9-12 and 13-19, with four different sessions available for each age group throughout June and July. Future rock stars and mini musicians will love learning basic chords and putting them together to perform popular songs. And don’t worry, it’s not BYOG – guitars will be provided!
Connect with Nature at Adventure Camp
Dolphins, sea turtles, and manatees – oh my! For kids that long for adventure, Amelia Adventures’ Adventure Camp will be the perfect fit. Kids ages 9-12 will spend three days connecting with nature, learning to kayak and paddleboard, and seeking out wildlife along the coastlines of Amelia Island. Adventure Camp also offers a two-day itinerary for kids ages 13-15.
After your new kayak expert has developed their skills, they can show them off on the camp’s bonus day. Every kid is offered free admission on a kayak tour so they can demonstrate their paddling prowess and newfound wildlife knowledge to their family.
Putt Around at Gregor MacGregor’s Mini Links & Drinks
