How to Spend the Holiday’s this Year Amid COVID-19
5 Festive Activities to Do in Fernandina Beach
As we dive into the holiday season this year, many people are wondering how traditional activities may change, and what there is to do in our merry town of Amelia Island. Many families have altered their traditions and ways of celebrating due to the COVID-19 pandemic, however there are still many options available to enjoy the splendors of the season.
Whether you are celebrating virtually, with your family or in smaller groups, there are still fun holiday ideas you can do while practicing social distancing. Although a few events have been cancelled this year, there will still be plenty of holiday cheer and merriment of events located in Fernandina Beach, where our flagship Timoti’s location resides. Check out five family-friendly holiday festivities to make this season one to remember (in a holly-jolly way, of course!)
Dickens on Centre
The 6th Annual Victorian-Christmas theme street festival is coming back to town! The event is scheduled for December 10-13 but will differ slightly from previous years. The traditional “Kids Zone”, stage entertainment, and vendor shopping booths will be closed, however, “Dickens Dining Week 2020,” will be introduced in its place.
Christmas Wish Tree
Rock around the Christmas tree in Fernandina Beach and spread holiday cheer by writing your secret wish on a wooden tag this season. Hang it on the Christmas wish tree in the park located next to Amelia Island Coffee. Don’t forget to pop in and do some window shopping while you are walking around Fernandina Beach (shops located downtown will be decorated for the holidays making the shopping experience even more joyful), and support local businesses.
Annual Downtown Pajama Party
Who doesn’t like to party in comfortable attire (especially after a Thanksgiving Day feast)? Well now is the time to do so! With Fernandina’s Annual Downtown Pajama Party, you can get your holiday groove on with Christmas caroling fun for the whole family. There will also be a contest for best pajamas. Grab your matching long-johns!
Lighted Christmas Parade
Celebrate the season and welcome Santa to Fernandina Beach! The annual Christmas Lighted Parade traditions will continue this year. The event features decorated floats, cars, marching bands, walkers, dancers and of course the big man himself, Santa Clause.
Letters to Santa
Happy holidays from the North Pole! Writing a letter to Santa is a holiday tradition and can still be celebrated amongst the pandemic. Write out a list of your Christmas wishes, drop it off at the Welcome Center in Amelia Island and soon enough the letters will be delivered directly to Santa.
There is no place like home for the holidays, and with so many ways to celebrate the holiday season in Fernandina Beach, there will be no shortage of holiday cheer. While you are downtown, be sure to stop in and grab a bite at Timoti’s (walking distance from all of the holiday festivities)!
