Baba’s Mediterranean Unveils New Dinner Menu
New Dishes and a Returning Favorite Available after 5PM
Since opening in 2023, Baba’s Mediterranean has quickly made a name for itself as one of the best places in the greater Jacksonville area to find mouthwatering gyro, crispy falafel, and appetizing mezze platters. Not only do locals love the standard Mediterranean fare—and trust us when we say there’s nothing standard about these standards—they rave about the incredible dinner menu. Available after 5PM every day, except Sunday, the Baba’s Mediterranean dinner menu changes seasonally.
Well, it’s a new season—and that means Chef Rob at Baba’s Mediterranean has been cooking up some delicious new offerings and we’re all the better for it. Previous seasonal menus have been a virtual tour of Mediterranean countries like Italy, Greece, and Lebanon and the current options are no different.
Spaghetti & Meatballs
“Bah!” You’re probably saying right off the bat, “I can make spaghetti and meatballs at home.” That’s probably true, but we promise they won’t be as good as Chef Rob’s. See, Rob cut his teeth in Italian kitchens all over northeast Florida and the homemade red sauce that serves as the base for this dish is his speciality. Plus, the meatballs are made in house with beef and lamb for a heavenly combination.
Top it off with freshly shaved parmesan and you’ve got a winner on your hands. Available for $15.99.
Roasted Chicken
Your prayers have been answered! The Roasted Chicken was a staple of Baba’s first dinner menu, before taking a brief vacation during the summer months. Regulars kept asking if it would ever come back and we are pleased to report Baba’s heard the choir.
Start with perfectly roasted crispy chicken, then add the incredible housemade Zhoug Sauce. What’s Zhoug? Great question. Zhoug is a popular Middle Eastern condiment as common as ketchup here in Florida. It is made from cilantro, olive oil and other spices with a nice, natural green color. We’ll also give you a heads up that there is a slight kick to zhoug, but we encourage even those who usually skip spicy dishes to give this a try. It really has more flavor than added heat.
Make sure you get some pickled veggies and arugula fruit salad on your fork for every bite. Available for $17.99.
Flounder Oreganata
Ding! Ding! Ding! We have a winner. Since none of these dishes are guaranteed to stick around forever, we highly recommend you RUN, don’t walk to Baba’s for the Flounder Oreganata.
Opt for fried or grilled flounder—you really can’t go wrong either way—over a bed of roasted potatoes and topped with a peach salad. Wait…potatoes and peach!? Chef Rob is a magician and he’s worked some crazy spell to make these flavors not just blend together but compliment each other perfectly.
A light drizzle of the signature Baba Sauce and Bob’s (or Rob’s) your uncle. Oh, and don’t forget a spritz of fresh lemon right before you dig in. Available for $17.99
Braised Lamb Stew
Also back after a short break is the entrée sized Braised Lamb Stew. Made from tomatoes, carrots, celery, corn, potatoes, onion, and, of course, that lamb that has been slowly braised overnight, regulars probably recognize this stew from Baba’s all-day menu.
This is a super-sized version served over toasted cumin rice with a heaping dollop of sour cream on top. Available for $16.99.
Bonus: Loaded Fries!
Before you go, we just had to include another new menu item that instantly became our go-to snack, lunch, dinner, whatever. Available on the all day menu, Baba’s Loaded Fries are a heaping pile of deliciousness.
Choose Chicken Gyro or Shawarma to rest on a bed of french fries, olives, tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, pepperoncinis, lettuce, and Baba Sauce. I think we’re forgetting something…oh, right! Feta, and lots of it. The soft white cheese pulls everything together for a power punch of flavor in every bite.
Loaded Fries are part of the all-day, year-round menu so you can enjoy it again and again. Available for $12.99.
