What Produce is in Season in Florida this Fall?
Fresh Florida Produce this Season
There’s a reason they call it the Sunshine State. Unlike other regions in North America, Florida’s natural growing season does not shut down production due to cold weather. With temperate weather from September to March, Florida is one of the largest producers of fresh fruits and vegetables during the fall and winter.
Due to modern supply chains, we’re able to get virtually any type of produce year round. However, there’s no denying fruits and vegetables grown in our home Florida soil taste that much sweeter (and greener!) Just like the wild caught seafood used in everything from our Fried Shrimp Baskets to Grilled Daily Catch, we here at Timoti’s make an effort to use as many local ingredients as possible.
So, if you’re looking for ways to enjoy seasonal produce this autumn, we have you covered! Read on to find out what’s in store and some T’s Faves to add to your “Must Try” list.
When is Avocado in Season?
We are lucky in Florida to enjoy fresh avocados year round. In fact, Florida is the second-largest producer of avocados in the United States behind California. This healthy fruit—yes, fruit—with its creamy and earthy taste is a perfect addition for salads, sandwiches and more. Filled with healthy fats and plenty of vitamins, it’s no surprise avocados are a favorite of champion athletes from the Sunshine State.

When are Cucumbers in Season?
You’ll find peak cucumber season in Florida during October and November. This light and refreshing veggie makes a great topping for your salad. Cucumbers are loaded with antioxidants, which can help prevent chronic illness down the road. For short term benefits, cucumber can help with hydration levels!

When are Tomatoes in Season?
Down here below the 30th parallel, October means prime tomato season. There’s nothing stopping you from picking up one of these juicy bad boys and eating it like an apple, but this tangy treat is a perfect topping for any meal. In addition to sandwiches and salads, we also use tomatoes as a base for our Seafood Stew.

When is Corn in Season?
Believe it or not, you can find fresh corn down here in Florida. The hub of Florida corn production is near the Everglades in Palm Beach County. Sweet corn is the name of the game in January and February, but the harvest can begin as early as November. You won’t encounter corn-on-the-cob at our Fernandina or Nocatee locations, but you’ll want to sample our signature hush puppies (included with our basket meals) for the full Timoti’s experience.

When is Lettuce in Season?
If leafy greens are on your list, you’ll need to stick around in December and January. Lettuce, kale, and more thrive in the conditions brought on by winter in Florida. It’s a great way to reduce the risk of obesity, heart disease, and high blood pressure. We make it easy to get more leafy greens in your system by using them as the base for our popular salads.

When is Squash and Pumpkin in Season?
Here it is, the one you’ve been waiting for! Pumpkin! Squash and pumpkin are the freshest in November and December in Florida. However, if you really need your pumpkin fix sooner, Timoti’s Pumpkin Spice Dessert Cups might be just what you’re looking for. This is a limited time special only available during the fall, so make sure to stop by and grab one while they are still available!
